Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
There's no better time for the Braves to get back on track than today. The Braves will take on a lefty. And the Braves love to smash lefties. The Braves' projected lineup has a .236 ISO and wOBA of .344 in the last 30 days. Atlanta is walking nearly 15% of the time against lefties and limiting ground balls to under 41% in that same time frame.
Meanwhile, it'll be Madison Bumgarner on the mound for the Diamondbacks. The veteran lefty has a 5.73 xFIP in the last 30 days with just 15.2% of strikeouts. He's also allowing 48.8% of hard contact and is giving up a ton of power to righties with a .278 ISO in his last 83 plate appearances against righties.
On the other hand, Kyle Wright will get the call for the Braves. He's struck out 22% of batters in the last 30 days and has induced 51.8% of grounders while also limiting line drives to 19.3%.
Lefties are hitting for a .163 ISO in the last 30 days but overall, Wright has done well limiting power and limiting weighted on-base averages from both sides of the plate.
Arizona has a solid offense as well, with a .236 ISO and wOBA of .364 against righties in the last 30 days, however, Wright has been substantially better than Bumgarner throughout the season. Wright has a 2.68 ERA on the year and has been able to have more success analytically as well.
Therefore, I'm taking the Braves to avoid the sweep today. The juice is a bit heavy, but it's worth it knowing that we've got a legitimate pitching mismatch here.
