Dodgers vs. Pirates Line Movement
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction
A few weeks ago the Dodgers went into Pittsburgh and inexplicably lost 2 out of 3 has extremely heavy favorites and now the same thing has happened again. The Pirates have won the first 2 games of this series as +300 underdogs and they have done it by hitting the long ball as they have jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in both games to this point. Buehler and Urias are two of the Dodgers' best pitchers but got hit fairly hard as they were both unable to keep the ball in the park.
Tonight the Pirates will start Jose Quintana who absolutely shut down the Dodgers in their first series a few weeks ago as he didn’t allow a run in 6 innings and also only allowed 2 hits so he really fooled this stacked Dodgers lineup.
What worries me about Quintana is that he walked 4 hitters in that game and had to work around some traffic on the base paths. So the main question is, Can Quintana continue that success again here tonight? And I believe the answer is No. The Dodgers are usually one of the most public backed teams as they are fairly widely regarded as one of the top teams in the league but they have not shown it to this point. I really believe that the Dodgers will finally wake up tonight and take advantage of their opportunities against Quintana who they have already seen this year.
One thing I have mentioned in a few of my articles is how the results can sometimes flip when a pitcher faces a team multiple times within a certain time frame. In the first matchup, Quintana got the best of this Dodgers lineup and really limited their production and I think the results will be much different this time around.
I have patiently sat out the first two games of this series since it is extremely hard to find value on a team over -300 but I think this is the spot to back the Dodgers to avoid the sweep.
The Dodgers will start Mitch White who is coming off his best appearance of the season against Arizona where he threw 4 shutout innings in route to a 14-1 win. We are getting a very similar line dynamic in this game as well as White is still heavily favored but not nearly as favored as Urias or Buehler.
I think the Pirates hitters will regress against a guy in White who they have little experience against and fully expect a concerted effort by the Dodgers hitters to get on base and convert their opportunities after a very lackluster start to this series. With that being said, I am rolling with Dodgers F5 -0.5 -150 and Dodgers Full Game -1.5 at -120 for 1U each as my most confident MLB picks of the night.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Picks
- Dodgers F5 -0.5 (-150) (Bet $150 to Win $100)
- Dodgers -1.5 (-120) (Bet $120 to Win $100)
