The Los Angeles Angels take on the New York Yankees tonight in the Bronx. Will there be a pitching duel between Reid Detmers and Nestor Cortes? Lightning Locks answers.
ANALYSIS

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Best Bet: Will There Be a Pitching Duel in the Bronx?

If you are wondering who has the best record in baseball, wonder no more as it's the New York Yankees. Tonight they face the Angels again who are off to a great start themselves this year sitting in second place in the AL West. The score looks like a blowout last night but a few well-placed balls early got the Yankees going and then some garbage runs late. The Angels just couldn't get the hits they needed to, especially after Aaron Judge, who rarely plays center, robbed Ohtani of a homer in a top ten play. Tonight the Angels try to even it up but we are going to take a look at the total with two stud pitchers going.

Let's dive into my prediction, best bet, and the odds for tonight’s game between the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels.

New York Yankees vs. Los Angeles Angels Prediction

Reid Detmers, aka Mr. No Hitter back on May 12th against the Rays, hasn't been the same pitcher since as he has had two bad starts against Texas, but he matches up well against the loaded lefty Yankee lineup and is a completely different pitcher then the Yankees saw in Thor last night which will give him an advantage. The Yankees did score nine runs last night but got an extra out early and took advantage of it, and then were shut down by a middle reliever pretty much the rest of the game.

The Yankees are still missing some key offensive guys and the chance is that they might sit two of their best hitters or that they are facing a lefty who will slow down this offense tonight as they neutralize Gallo and Rizzo. We can't forget the Angels have lost six in a row and are clearly struggling mentally after three one-run losses they just got blown out yesterday. We expect a better performance from Detmers and the Angels after yesterday's embarrassment.

The Yankees send Nester" the mustache" Cortes to the mound and have there been a better pitcher this year? He is 4-1 with a 1.70 era and teams are hitting .228 off him. He has had three games of zero runs, three games with one run, two with two runs, and one with three runs in a game the Yanks still won. Actually, the Yanks have won seven out of his nine starts with one being a tough one-run loss to the Blue Jays.

He has actually gone eighteen straight starts giving up three or fewer runs. This guy is balling, he is in the zone and any pitcher who can go out there and guarantee me two or fewer runs every start, we will take it. The Yankees as a team have a 2.91 era, the third-best in the league and with their best pitcher this year going we don't expect the Angels to get many off of him tonight.

The Yankees are struggling on offense as they had only five runs in the last three games before yesterday and the Angels will struggle against a man who has gone eighteen in a row giving up three or less. We feel Detmers will bring his A-game tonight and we will have a duel in the Bronx. Take the under 8 -105 available at Bet Rivers tonight and let's see the duel and a better game in the Bronx tonight on FS1 for your viewing pleasure.
