Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction: Can the Braves Start a Winning Streak?

On Wednesday, the Atlanta Braves defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks after a morning team meeting where veterans voiced frustration. The Braves are still just 24-27 on the season but if we learned anything from last year, it's that anything is possible. There's still a long season ahead.

Tonight, the Braves take on the Rockies to begin a four-game series in Coors Field. Will playing in Colorado wake the Braves bats up for good? Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Thursday's game between the Colorado Rockies and Atlanta Braves.

Rockies vs. Braves Line Movement

Colorado Rockies vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction

The Atlanta Braves will take on another left-handed pitcher tonight. And I'm convinced that if the Braves only faced lefties, they'd be the best team in baseball.

In the last 30 days, the Braves have an ISO of .272 and wOBA of .360 against lefties with their projected lineup. Atlanta is also walking 15.8% of the time, and hitting just 38.1% of ground balls.

Tonight, it'll be Austin Gomber on the mound for the Rockies. He's 2-5 with a 5.51 ERA and just had the worst start of the season in his last outing. In the last 30 days, Gomber has a 4.83 xFIP with 13.8% of strikeouts and 8.3% of walks and his BABIP is up to .325 in that same time frame.

Righties have a .383 wOBA and ISO of .203 in the last 30 days against Gomber and the Braves lineup should have eight righties with the lone lefty being slugger Matt Olson. Ronald Acuna Jr. is questionable at this time but is expected to play.

On the other hand, Ian Anderson will man the mound for the Braves. He has a 5.76 xFIP with 15.7% of strikeouts and 9.9% of walks. He hasn't been excellent either but he'll take on a Rockies lineup that has a .088 ISO and wOBA of .293 against righties this season.

The Rockies also have just 7.6% of walks and are hitting nearly 47% of ground balls in the last 40 days. The Braves lineup pops out on the lineup while the Rockies' lineup doesn't. Of course, the Rockies have played better at home, but every team is going to play better in Coors Field offensively.

I like the Braves to start a two-game winning streak against the Rockies tonight. Give me the Braves on the moneyline here.
