The Tigers have won back-to-back games by shutting out the Twins. Prior to those two games, the Twins were flying high and had a fairly comfortable lead in the AL central. The Tigers have really struggled to find a flow this season after coming into the year with fairly high expectations after a big off-season. One of the big names that they brought in was former world champion shortstop Javier Baez.
Baez has really struggled to get going this season and will be looking to turn it around sooner than later. The pitching has been inconsistent for the Tigers as well, leading them to a lot of their losses. The Tigers are hoping that their last couple of wins will spark something. It is a long season, and this team is talented enough to make a run toward the postseason.
The Twins will send Chris Archer to the bump today. Archer has struggled on the season so far, going 0-2 with an era north of four. He will be opposed by young right-hander Alex Faedo. Fade o has a record of 1-2, but he actually has been solid for the Tigers entering the game with a 3.00 era. The Twins are slight favorites for this one today.
