Pittsburgh Pirates vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction: Can JT Brubaker Rack Up The Strikeouts?
We've done it people. We've got another Play of the Century. So far that's like five or six this week. Many are calling this the "greatest century ever". It's almost like the term doesn't even mean anything anymore and then we watch the games play out only to realize Play of the Century is actually a thing. Last night it was Austin Gomber. When have you ever seen a guy give up nine earned runs in a game while still cashing his strikeout number? You don't see it. Only in Play of the Century moves. That's it.
Lucky for us, that won't happen again tonight. My guy is firmly in the Circle of Trust and he is highly unlikely to give up nine earned runs tonight. Fair warning, this bet might not even be exciting. He could literally do it in the first inning. Let's dive into my pick, prediction, and the odds for the Pirates vs Diamondbacks game tonight.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Arizona Diamondbacks Pick
JT Brubaker Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120) (Bet $120 to win $100)
*Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing*
This one is hanging at BetMGM. DraftKings has the same number for -125 so they are not far off. The book I was surprised at was FanDuel. They are offering 4.5 for -136 which isn't like them. My guess is they know what kind of a stud they are looking at here and have grown tired of giving away money on him. If you do play there, I'd say take a look at the 6+ strikeouts for +162. It's Friday. Live a little.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs Arizona Diamondbacks Prediction
JT Brubaker. We're talking about a guy with 50 strikeouts in just 47.2 innings of work so far this season. That's big time. But it could also be described as "undercover" big time. Or better known by the kids on the streets as "low-key" big time. It's just enough to be like "woah" but not enough for the books to notice that they are dealing with filth. Thus, the low number to cover. This guy is a Circle of Trust member for his ability to fly under the radar.
The haters are going to say that Brubaker has only covered this number four times in 10 starts this season. They are right. We can't run from that. The thing they won't tell you is that three of those starts don't even count since the Pirates didn't even let him throw 70 pitches. One of the other starts was against Colorado. Once you get rid of those games, you'll see that our boy has covered this number in four of six starts which isn't bad. The man went double digits on the Chicago Cubs for Christ's sake.
The reason I brought up the Cubs game is that at the time they were a very bad strikeout team. Much like the Pirates' opponent tonight, the Arizona Diamondbacks. Only one team in MLB has struck out more than they have this season. The thing is, that team (Braves) has had 46 more at-bats. We could seriously get a lineup tonight that features eight guys that have struck out in at least 25% of their at-bats over the last two weeks. I think Brubaker goes off tonight and shows what it means to be in the Slop Circle of Trust.
