Texas Rangers vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction
The Texas Rangers will pitch Glenn Otto for tonight's game. Otto has a 4.33 ERA on the year and has ultimately been hot and cold throughout the season. In the last 30 days, Otto has had a 5.68 xFIP with 16.5% of strikeouts and 13% of walks. That's usually not going to cut it, however, Otto has held lefties to a .282 wOBA and ISO of .071 in the last 30 days. He's mainly struggling against righties, where he's allowed a .377 wOBA and ISO of .192. In the Mariners lineup, Seattle should have six lefties in the lineup against Otto. That's a favorable matchup for Otto after all. The Mariners hit under 20% of line drives against righties with the projected lineup in the last 30 days and have also struck out 21.5% of the time in the same time frame. On the flip side, Marco Gonzales will get the call for the Mariners. Gonzales has a 3.55 ERA but has been so much worse analytically. In the last 30 days, Gonzales has had a 6.14 xFIP with 10.3% of strikeouts and 8.7% of walks. Lefties have a .642 wOBA and ISO of .444 in that same time frame. Corey Seager is a left-handed slugger for the Rangers who has destroyed left-handed pitching. There's really no lefty you'd want up against Gonzales than Seager, maybe other than Yordan Alvarez, for example. Seager should be in for a big day and Mitch Garver, who is a righty, has been unconscious against lefties in the last 30 days for the Rangers. Therefore, I'm going to rock with the Rangers, at home. The Rangers are hitting 23.5% of line drives against lefties in the last 30 days and have five batters with high ISO numbers against lefties in those same 30 days.
