Milwaukee Brewers vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction: Can the Brewers Stop the Phillies' Win Streak?
So far, the Philadelphia Phillies' firing of manager Joe Girardi has provided an immediate spark, as the team swept the Los Angeles Angels over the weekend and won its series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday. That makes four consecutive wins for the Phillies under interim manager Rob Thomson, and the team is now favored on the road to make it five straight wins tonight.
Are the Phillies deserving road favorites, or are we not giving enough credit to the first-place Brewers at home?
Read on for our prediction, best play, and the odds for Wednesday's National League tilt between the Phillies and Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers vs Philadelphia Phillies Prediction
Though Philadelphia is on a four-game winning streak, they have needed some unprecedented dramatics to pull out the last two victories. On Sunday, the Phillies rallied from a 6-2 eighth-inning deficit and 7-6 ninth-inning deficit (when they were down to their last out) to finish the sweep of the Angels. Philadelphia's offense exploded in that series, scoring 26 runs over the three games.
Yesterday's comeback victory was somewhat historic given that Philadelphia scored two runs in the ninth inning off Brewers' closer Josh Hader to eke out a 3-2 win. Hader entered that outing without allowing a run in any of his 19 appearances this year, and his 40 straight scoreless regular-season appearances dating back to last year tied a Major League record. Thus, for Philadelphia to hit not one but two solo home runs against the Brewers' closer is something we have not seen for quite some time.
Milwaukee struggled offensively in losing three of four games in a home series against San Diego over the weekend. They were shut out in two of the games and scored just nine runs total in the four contests. However, a lot of that could be pinned on the fact that they were playing a brutal stretch of 18 games in 17 days and many critical parts of their lineup were out.
The Brewers got healthier in yesterday's series opener, as outfielder Hunter Renfroe was activated from the IL (hamstring strain), and Luis Urias played after missing a couple of games with a bruised right thumb. The last big missing piece to their lineup may be activated today, as Willy Adames is back in the clubhouse after being on the IL since May 15 with a high ankle sprain.
A win tonight would be a historic win for Brewers manager Craig Counsell, as he is one win away from tying Phil Garner for the most wins in franchise history.
Milwaukee is underdogs because they oppose Aaron Nola (3-4, 3.92), but Nola has been a much worse pitcher on the road compared to at home in his career.
Nola is 30-32 with a 4.22 ERA on the road and 40-21 with a 3.20 ERA at home. In addition, underdogs have won each of the last four Brewers games, so we like that trend to continue tonight. Philadelphia has gotten off to slow starts lately, trailing after three innings in three of its last four games as road favorites against NL Central teams. Thus, we do not expect the Phillies to have a flair for the dramatic for the third game in a row if they fall behind again tonight.
