Pittsburgh Pirates vs Detroit Tigers Prediction: Can Alex Faedo Shutdown the Pirates Lineup?
Gamblers gamble. That's what they do. It's just how they operate. The first thing I did today was gamble. Nothing wrong with that. Here's the thing, we've got a baseball game on at 12:35 pm ET today. That's legit right in the middle of lunch for us east coasters. If you're on the west coast, you may still be drinking coffee when this thing starts. But no matter where you are, the game will be much more enjoyable if you bet on it. You can't argue that. Nobody can. It's science.
We're talking the Detroit Tigers and Pittsburgh Pirates here people. Who's watching that without a little change on the line? Not me. Lucky for us, the books left a gift behind when they set the lines for this thing. We're talking Christmas in June here. Lunch is going to be amazing today.
Let's dive into my player prop pick, prediction, and the odds for the Pittsburgh Pirates vs Detroit Tigers game.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs Detriot Tigers Player Prop Pick
Alex Faedo Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-155) (Bet $155 to win $100)
*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*
We're at DraftKings here because for some reason FanDuel hasn't released a number on Faedo. It's sad that we live in a world where sports books are scared of their customers but here we are. Be the change I guess (whatever that means). The reason I wish we had a number at FanDuel is that we're paying -155 at DraftKings for this which is sky-high. It's not as bad as BetMGM who's hanging -160 but it still hurts. I don't know how you people drink this juice all the time. It's disgusting.
Pittsburgh Pirates vs Detriot Tigers Prediction
Now the haters are going to say I'm just picking this guy because we share a birthday (November 12). Maybe I am, but does that mean this guy can't strike out four Pittsburgh Pirates? Of course not. I get that Faedo has only whiffed 21 guys in 32.1 innings of work but we only need four today. We're not asking the kid to do too much here. We're reasonable people.
The first thing you have to remember when you're talking to the haters is that they aren't smart people. They don't even realize that two of Faedo's starts this season were against the Cleveland Guardians. Nobody has struck out less than them this season. And if they bring up the fact that Faedo only fanned one Pirate in his first start of the season (and ever), then walk away. That start doesn't even count. Think about if everyone judged you on your first time doing stuff.
The Pirates that Faedo saw in his first start ever are not the same Pirates he'll see today. In the last two weeks, these guys have struck out in 29% of their at bats. That's terrible. If Yu Chang and Michael Perez is in the lineup then they will cover this by themselves. Even if they aren't, the Pirates have plenty of guys who can get us home. If I had to guess, I'd say Faedo could get this in the first inning if he really wanted to but he's a class act so he'll probably stretch our entertainment dollars to the second.
