Boston Red Sox vs Oakland Athletics Prediction: Can Red Sox Start Series Against Athletics with a Win?
The Boston Red Sox haven't gained much ground when it comes to the AL East. But they've played so much better recently to get them back over .500 at 32-29 on the season.
Tonight, the Red Sox will start a home series against the Athletics, who are just 21-41 on the season.
With Boston facing a lefty, the Red Sox could be in great shape tonight. Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Tuesday's game between the Oakland Athletics and Boston Red Sox.

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction
The Oakland Athletics will be pitching Jared Koenig for his second career major league start. His first start didn't exactly go as planned, as he allowed five hits, two walks and four runs in his major league debut in just four innings pitched.
The left-hander will likely be tossed in the fire again tonight, facing a very difficult Red Sox lineup.
In that first game, his analytics did not look good. Koenig had a 5.18 xFIP with 16.7% of strikeouts and 11.1% of walks. He was crushed by lefties and righties and will take on a Red Sox lineup that has a .238 ISO and wOBA of .381 against lefties in the last 30 days.
Rafael Devers, J.D. Martinez, Xander Bogaerts, Trevor Story, and Bobby Dalbec have all hit lefties at an above-average rate in the last 30 days and should be able to get to Koenig in this game.
On the other hand, Nick Pivetta will get the start for the Red Sox. He's 5-5 but has a respectable 3.78 ERA on the season. Pivetta has struck out 28.1% of batters in the last 30 days while allowing just 7% of walks and a BABIP of .215.
The Athletics, meanwhile, have a .152 ISO and wOBA of .294 against righties in the last 30 days with 22.9% of strikeouts and just 5.6% of walks. Pivetta has been a bit worse to righties but all of the righties in the Athletics order have been inconsistent against righties, to begin with.
I like the Red Sox to pour it on against Oakland, at home. The Athletics are massive underdogs but if we take the Red Sox in the first five on the run line, we can drop the price and get a solid discount with -.5 for the Red Sox at -145.
Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics Pick
