The Seattle Mariners host the Minnesota Twins tonight. Should you back Marco Gonzales and the Mariners at home?
ANALYSIS

Seattle Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction: Should You Back Marco Gonzales and the Mariners?

The Seattle Mariners defeated the Minnesota Twins, 5-0 in a low-scoring pitching duel. The Twins added Joe Ryan off the injured list last night and will now add Sonny Gray off the injured list for tonight's game.

The Twins, at 36-28 are getting their pitching staff healthy again. Teams should be a bit worried.

Today, the Twins will look to win the rubber match of a three-game series against the Mariners.

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Wednesday’s game between the Seattle Mariners and Minnesota Twins.

Seattle Mariners vs. Minnesota Twins Prediction

Sonny Gray will be coming off the injured list, looking to help the Twins win a three-game series over the Mariners.

Gray went to the IL with a 3.03 xFIP after facing his last 71 plate appearances. He also had a 28.2% strikeout rate along with just 1.4% of walks in those 71 plate appearances.

On the year, Gray is 3-1 with a 2.41 ERA and he would be talked about a little bit more this season if he didn't land on the injured list twice already this year.

The Mariners have some power in their lineup against righties but ultimately have five batters that are striking out over 22.5% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.

On the other hand, Marco Gonzales will get the call for the Mariners. Gonzales is 3-6 with a 3.63 ERA on the season. That's rough, having six losses despite having a 3.63 ERA. However, his xFIP tells a different story, as Gonzales has had a 5.58 xFIP in the last 30 days.

The Twins, meanwhile, have an ISO of .098 with a wOBA of .298, which isn't good, however, the Twins are striking out under 20% of the time against lefties in the last 30 days while also hitting under 40% of grounders and above 26% of line drives against lefties in those 30 days.

Eventually, those line drives will turn into power. Gonzales has allowed a .171 ISO to righties in the last 30 days and will take on a Twins lineup that will likely have at least eight righties in the lineup.

I like the Twins to win the rubber match with Sonny Gray on the mound. The offense will figure out against Gonzales.
