Okay, I know what you’re thinking, is TGB smoking that good stuff today? I know it looks strange adding a player to not hit a triple as a juice reducer but it saved us 40 cents per dollar on our bet here. Grossman has not a hit a triple all year and only had 3 of them last year in 156 games. So in his last 204 games, he only has 3 triples, that is 1 every 68 games. That has a 1.4% chance of hitting, it is definitely worth reducing the juice on our main leg here. For those who don’t have Caesars and need a parlay leg, add Skubal's outs I would pair it with something safe like an alternate rune line. In DraftKings, you can pair Skubals outs with Dodgers +1.5 alternate line and reduce the juice to -127.
Let's get into why we like our main leg. Skubal is my guy. The Tigers have been the biggest offensive disaster in the history of the MLB thus far but Skubal has been outstanding. Skubal just needs to pitch 6 innings and he’s by far this team's ace. Skubal is 6/8 in his last games on hitting this prop but the two misses both make perfect sense. Against Cleveland, he only pitched 5 innings but was only at 66 pitches after 5 innings and left due to injury. He easily would have recorded one more inning. The other miss was against the Blue Jays, they simply mash left-handed pitching and a team with power-hitting righties is Skubals one kryptonite. Tonight’s challenge against Texas should fare much better for Skooby.
Detroit just got a great outing of Brieske yesterday so the bullpen should be rested but AJ Hinch has acknowledged that if Skubal is able to pitch he will be out there. This team holds such high respect for him and going six innings shouldn’t be a problem unless he gets hit as bad as he did against Toronto which I just don’t see happening.
Texas hits lefties at a respectable .242 clip but I don’t think they are a complete enough of a team to hit him out of the game early. They may score 2 runs or so but beyond that, I can’t imagine them having any lengthy rallies where they make a fool of him. Before the doomsday start against the Blue Jays, he was dominant at home hitting in four starts with spectacular starts. This is the bounceback game. Skubal throws 6 innings and Grossman better not think about hitting a triple, lets roll!
