Atlanta Braves vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction
The Atlanta Braves will send out left-hander Max Fried for tonight's opener. He's 7-2 with a 2.90 ERA. After a weird start to his 2022 campaign, Fried has been terrific as of late. In the last 30 days, Fried has had a 3.86 xFIP with 22.2% of strikeouts and 5.6% of walks. But he also earned 57.1% of ground balls in that same time frame while allowing a limited amount of line drives at 15.4%.
Neither side of the plate is hitting for much power and many runners are struggling to get on base against Fried.
The Giants, on the other hand, have a lot of power in their lineup against lefties. In the last 30 days against lefties, Austin Slater has a .348 ISO, Darin Ruf has a .370 ISO, Mike Yasztremski has a .269 ISO, Wilmer Flores has a .188 ISO, and Evan Longoria has a .241 ISO. However, as a lineup, the Giants still only hit 18.2% of line drives and have struck out nearly 25% of the time in the last 30 days against lefties.

Meanwhile, the Giants will pitch Logan Webb, who has a 6-2 record with a 3.43 ERA on the season. In the last 30 days, he has had a 2.82 xFIP in the last 30 days with 28.1% of strikeouts and 5.8% of walks.
Webb allowed 24.1% of line drives in that same time frame but also induced 55.7% of ground balls. You get the best of both worlds with Webb, but the biggest thing is that he's limited power and has also limited weighted on-base averages from both sides of the plate.
Just like the Giants, the Braves how plenty of power against righties between Austin Riley, Matt Olson, William Contreras, Marcell Ozuna, and Orlando Arcia. But Webb has kept the power down and the Braves have struck out 25.8% of the time against righties in the last 30 days.
Therefore, I'm rolling with the two pitchers in tonight's game. I'll take the under 4 in the first five innings at +105, knowing both teams will need at least five to beat me with a plus money option.
Atlanta Braves vs. San Francisco Giants Pick
- Under 4 F5 (+105) (Bet $100 to Win $105)
