Chicago White Sox vs. Toronto Blue Jays Prediction
1u - Yes Run First 1st Inning (-115) (Bet $115 to win $100)
*Odds Available at BetMGM*
This bet is widely available. I see it for -120 on Caesars and -125 on DraftKings. The bet is simple, either team just needs to score for us in the 1st inning. The game's total is exactly nine which makes this a true 50/50 in theory but we have reason to believe we have an edge here. White Sox games have seen a run in the 1st inning in in 36/64 games. That is a 56.25% hit rate whether they allow the run or score the run, they rank 3rd in the MLB. On the other side, we have Toronto which has seen a run in 37/66 games. That is slightly less than Chicago with a 56% hit rate. Toronto ranks 4th in the MLB in games involved with a run in the 1st inning.
So both teams are top 4 in the league in games where a YRFI hits, why is that? The top of the order for Toronto is George Springer, Bo Bichette, and Vladamir Guerrero, not shocking to see them. Tim Anderson is still sidelined for the White Sox but they still have a respectable top-of-the-lineup with either Mendick or Pollock in the 1-hole followed by Vaughn, Robert, and Abreu. So many of these players on both teams are capable of hitting solo shots or going for extra-base hits to threaten in the first.
Jose Berrios has allowed a 1st inning run in 2 of his last 4 games and has a tough history against Jose Abreu if he allows a hit or walk and gets to the four spot. Lance Lynn looked very old and rusty against Detroit and allowed 2 runs in the first inning. If he looked bad against the Tigers, just imagine what Vlad and company should do. Both pitchers have had their moments in their careers where they are the man but this year we have seen them both get banged up and look very hittable, we only need one to get hit hard. I would love a home run here to get us out of our seats and pumped up. I’ll take a rally as a slight consolation but lets make sure we get an early run here.
