The New York Yankees head to Tropicana Field to take on their division rival Tampa Bay Rays. Some bets are more complicated but we’re riding with a pretty simple one here. Here's my best bet for the pitcher's duel between Gerrit Cole and Shane McClanahan.

Rays vs. Yankees Line Movement

Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees Prediction

1u - Shane McClanahan Over 17.5 Outs (-130) (Bet $130 to win $100)

*Odds Available at DraftKings*

Shane McClanahan is our boy, the guy has respected our cash all year and should continue to do so. Admittedly, the Yankees have a scary lineup but he has performed well enough against them thus far to suggest that he can replicate that success. McClanahan has already faced the Yankees twice this year and went exactly 6 innings. In one outing he allowed 4 runs but still recorded quick outs to get the 18 needed. In the other outing, he only allowed one run but did allow 7 hits. Neither outing did he look absolutely stellar but he cleared the number both times and left room for improvement.

McClanahan seems to have a knack for getting quick outs and going deep into games. We need him to complete six innings here which he has accomplished in 7 straight games. I would view this as a trap on many other days but the total of this game is only 6.5, that would suggest we see a low-scoring game and if that’s the case then I don’t see him getting hit hard enough to not go his usual six innings. On the other side of the bump, we have Gerrit Cole and if Cole decides to have one of his days he looks like the most elite pitcher in baseball then that should motivate Shane to deal today.

The Rays only used one bullpen arm yesterday but six two days ago. I don’t think this should play a larger factor in McClanahan's outing today. Shane is clearly the best option so I figure as long as he doesn’t get shelled he should be throwing at least 90+ pitches and if he can keep it around 15 pitches an inning we will be in the driver seat for a cash. There are so many ways to attack this game and at first, I was looking at a NRSI bet but I think this is my favorite angle for this one. Let's hope for a low-scoring game, at least on the Yankees side.
