The Seattle Mariners will head over to Anaheim to take on the Los Angeles Angels in a weekend series. Both of these teams came into the season with high expectations. Instead, both teams are below .500 and struggling to go on winning streaks. The good news is that one of these two teams will finish the series with a win. Angels vs. Mariners Line Movement

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners Prediction

I'm expecting a lot of runs tonight. The Mariners will pitch Chris Flexen, who is 2-8 with a 4.23 ERA. Flexen has had a 5.72 xFIP in the last 30 days with 16.5% of strikeouts and 7.9% of walks. He's also inducing just 30.2% of ground balls while allowing 25% of line drives in that same time frame. Flexen will have to deal with a ton of power from Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and Jared Walsh, who all have very inflated ISO and wOBA numbers against righties. Los Angeles is also hitting just 36.4% of ground balls with their projected lineup against righties in the last 30 days while also hitting 24.6% of line drives. On the other hand, Michael Lorenzen will get the call for the Angels. He's 6-4 with a 4.15 ERA but his xFIP is 4.78 in the last 30 days. Lorenzen only has 17.1% of strikeouts along with 10.5% of walks in the last 30 days. He's also allowing 24% of line drives in that same time frame and will take on a Mariners lineup that has hit 25.9% of line drives in the last 30 days using the projected lineup against righties. Like the Angels, the Mariners are hitting just 37.9% of ground balls against righties while walking 9.8% of the time. Lorenzen also has given up a wOBA of .340 to lefties in his last 48 plate appearances against lefties. There will likely be more lefties than righties in the Mariners lineup. Again, both of these lineups have a lot of potential against these two subpar pitchers. Give me the Over 9 in this one.
