We’ve done this a handful of times and we’ve never lost out because of the added leg. If the double result hits for this game it won’t be a 1-0 final where New York fails to score 2+ runs. For people without DraftKings, BetMGM, or FanDuel I would recommend Montgomery To Record A Win as my top pivot although I find it riskier. In theory, it should be safer because he’s expected to go six innings as opposed to the five here but the Yankees lately have had this tendency to allow runs later in their game and we can win our bet still if Oakland ties it up late but Yankees still win.
New York Yankees Oakland Athletics Prediction
Yankees enter this game as -295 favorites for good reason. The Yankees are 53-20 and facing an Oakland team who is 25-49. I think getting this down to -130 is a steal and all we need is to lead after five innings and score two runs throughout the whole game, not crazy whatsoever. Jordan Montgomery is on the mound for New York and has had a great year holding less than a three ERA. He has faced tons of top competition and held his own so we have no reason to think an Oakland team batting .220 against lefties should be able to enflict too much damage. Montgomery has faced these batters 24 times and has only allowed four hits and one RBI. I expect more of the same tonight.
On the other side of things, we have Paul Blackburn. Blackburn has been better than expected this year with an identical ERA to Montgomery’s with a 2.97. Despite that, he looked bad in his last start. We’ve been waiting on his regression and it hit bad last game. The 28-year-old righty allowed seven runs in just four innings. I’m not saying that will happen again but he shouldn’t be pitching as well as he has this year and he will not end the seaaon under a three ERA.
Tonight he gets no easy task as he gets a Yankees team that scores the second-most runs in baseball only trailing the Dodgers. Blackburn has a short history vs these bats but has allowed eight hits in 17 at bats, not exactly great. Even if both pitchers look equally as good the Yankees have such a better lienup with more home run power so I like them here to cover this.
