St. Louis Cardinals vs Miami Marlins Best Bet: Will Adam Wainwright or Pablo Lopez Have The Upper Hand?
Both the Marlins and Cardinals have been playing very inconsistent lately. The Cardinals come into this game off a bad loss to the Cubs as they blew a 5-0 lead and are just 3-5 over their last 8 games. The Marlins come into this new series on a high note as they walked it off on Sunday to beat the Mets but they still lost the series and are just 6-8 over their last 14 games.
In baseball, there is not much of a home vs away advantage as there is in basketball or football but some teams just have a habit of performing better in certain environments. This year, the Marlins have really struggled on the road as they come into this game with a 14-22 record away from home this season. Compare that to their 19-16 record at home and you have a fairly significant discrepancy.
Let's dive into my prediction, picks, and odds for the Cardinals vs Marlins game.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins Prediction
Tonight the Marlins will start one of their better starting pitchers in Pablo Lopez who got off to a great start this season but has regressed a bit in the month of June. Lopez has also struggled in his last 2 starts on the road against the Padres and Astros as he allowed 8 earned runs in just 9 2/3rds innings including 14 hits and 3 walks as well.
The Cardinals have one of the highest contact rates in the league and frequently go deep into counts to force walks and get the opposing pitchers’ pitch count up. Lopez also shut the Cardinals down in an earlier start this year where I was on the Marlins for a Play of the Day. That was a specific environment that was best for Lopez at the time and now we get basically the same line dynamic for the Cardinals in the opposite direction as the Marlins were the favorite in that first matchup and now find themselves as underdogs in St Louis.
Wainwright is usually much sharper at home and the Marlins are a do-or-die team meaning they strike out a lot but are also hot for power. I think Wainwright will be able to use that to his advantage and create a lot of soft contact against this aggressive Marlins squad. With that being said, I am rolling with Cardinals F5 ML at -115 and Cardinals Full Game ML at -121 for 1U each as my most confident MLB Picks of the night.
St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins Best Bets

- 1 unit - Cardinals Full Game ML at -121 (Bet $121 to win $100)
