Handicapper and MLB player prop specialist John Hyslop is back again today with another top strikeout prop bet to add. This time his pick comes from the Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates matchup eyeing Erick Fedde.
ANALYSIS

Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction: Can Erick Fedde Rack Up the Strikeouts?

I was going to be done after my George Kirby strikeout prop. I really was. But then it hit me. What if I fall asleep before the first bet comes on? Technically my first bet starts at 9:38pm ET with the Lucas Giolito piñata prop. That's kind of late on a day where we legit have nothing else going on. I could easily start watching Netflix and then the next thing I know it's morning and I'm checking my sportsbook apps to see if I won. Not that there is anything wrong with those type of days.

It's kind of fun to just find out the second you wake up whether or not you're homeless but I'd still rather watch it play out. Lucky for us, I went deep diving back into the board and came out with straight fire. It starts at 7:00pm ET too. Let's get into my pick, prediction, and the odds for the Nationals vs Pirates game.

Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Pick

Erick Fedde Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)

*Odds available at DraftKings at time of publishing*

We're at DraftKings for this one since FanDuel doesn't even have anything for this guy yet. It's pretty late in the afternoon to not have anything so I'm getting kind of worried. I'm guessing we'll see the same number since BetMGM has 4.5 (-110) but I'd still like to see it. It would make me feel better.

Washington Nationals vs Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

Not a lot is known about this guy in the betting community. We just don't see his name a lot in the betting circles. He's flying way under the radar with only 55 strikeouts in 68.2 innings pitched. I like a guy that doesn't show off too much but Fedde takes it a little too far. Still, he's a 6'4", 203-pound mammoth of a human being. I bet if he really wanted to mow guys down he could. Back in the minors, he was close to being a 9 K/9 guy so he's not quite a gentle giant.

So far this season, he's started 14 games and the strikeouts haven't really flowed the way I'd like them to. The haters are going to say that he's only reached five strikeouts in five of his 14 starts and they're right. Here's the thing though, he's done it against the New York Mets, Houston Astros, and Los Angeles Dodgers. There's no rhyme or reason for this guy. The thing I like most is his season-high for strikeouts in a game is six and one of those games was against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Fedde will get another shot against Pittsburgh tonight and he's getting them at the right time. I'm not trying to be rude but these guys strike out like it's their job. Over the last week, no team in MLB has struck out more than they have. It's horrible. We could easily see six guys in the lineup tonight that have all fanned in 30+% of their at-bats over that span. There are another five that are over 20%. If Fedde is going to sit five guys down, it will be against a lineup like this. I think this is worth a bet. It's not like we have anything better to do.
