ANALYSIS

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres Top Pick: Should You Fade Zac Gallen and the Diamondbacks?

Well, this is another perfect storm in my eyes tonight for us. A great spot between two teams pretty much trending in the opposite directions and pitchers in entirely different spots. I'm talking about the Arizona Diamondbacks and the San Diego Padres.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres Prediction

The Diamondbacks are 33-41 sitting in fourth place in the wild wild west already starting to be left in the dust by the three powerhouses in their division. One of those is their opponent this evening, the San Diego Padres.

Despite dropping three of their last four to the Phillies they are 45-30 and just a game and a half back of the Dodgers. They have won the last six straight contests with Arizona and am sure they want to keep the streak going tonight.

For Sean Manaea, this is a very favorable matchup as he has seen success against this lineup before. He is sporting a cool .156/.217/.264 slash line against them in 64 at-bats thus far. That is what I would consider a hot matchup.

His counterpart tonight is Zac Gallen who falls quite literally on the other end of the spectrum here and the definition of a cold matchup. The Friars have hit Gallen for a nice slash line of .313/.425/.639 for an OPS of 1.065 and my expected numbers are even higher than that.

This one is simple, back the better team in the strong spot.
