The Dodgers were shut out by the Rockies last night in an incredible performance by Chad Kuhl. Can the Dodgers bounce back tonight behind Clayton Kershaw? Handicapper Joey Ruiz previews this NL West clash and gives us his best MLB bet for Tuesday.

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction: Will the Dodgers Bounce Back Behind Clayton Kershaw?

Coors Field is known for offense and long home runs but that was not the case last night. The Dodgers were stifled by Chad Kuhl who was pretty much in control the entire game as he threw a complete-game shutout. This was the first time a pitcher threw a CG shutout against the Dodgers in nearly a decade.

While it was surprising Kuhl was able to be that effective, the Dodgers were at a huge travel disadvantage. The Sunday night game went into extra innings and ended very late and then they had to turn around and fly across the country to Colorado to play in high altitude and I have to think that somewhat affected them in last night's game.

Colorado Rockies vs. Los Angeles Dodgers Prediction

The Dodgers are not accustomed to being shutout and while I do not like trends, there is a significant trend on their side tonight. The Dodgers are 15-0 since last August when scoring 0-1 run in their previous game. Now this doesn’t mean they are going to automatically win this game but it does speak to the focus and effort that they bring in games like tonight where they are following up a a bad offensive game.

On the mound for the Dodgers tonight is future Hall of Famer, Clayton Kershaw, who has excelled on the road this season. Kershaw comes into this game with a 4-1 record and a 1.24 ERA on the road in 5 total starts this season. This is an environment where he has done his best work and I’m sure there will be an added edge from him tonight as he looks to uplift his team to even this series at one a piece.

On the other side for the Rockies is Rockies left-handed pitcher Kyle Freeland who has had his struggles at Coors Field. He comes into this game with a 2-3 record and a 5.32 ERA at home this season. When you compare those numbers to his 2.91 road ERA, it is clear that Freeland greatly prefers to pitch on the road and has much more success away from Coors Field.

So tonight we get Kershaw in his best possible environment, we get Freeland in an environment where he has struggled, and we get the Dodgers as a whole in an environment that they have been greatly successful in since last August. With that being said, I am rolling with Dodgers F5 -0.5 at -145 for 1.5u as my most confident MLB Play of the night as I think Kershaw will hold the Rockies down and the Dodgers will be able to take a lead into the 6th inning.
