San Francisco Giants vs. Detroit Tigers Prediction
The Detroit Tigers and the San Fransico Giants will battle it out tonight from Oracle Park in the Bay Area. The Tigers have had a nightmare type of season so far as they came into the year as a dark horse to compete for the playoffs. The Tigers were aggressive in the off-season, signing former world champion shortstop Javier Baez. Baez has really struggled so far this season for Detroit, hitting just .217 on the campaign.
The Tigers rank fourth to last in the majors in batting average, hitting just .226 as a team. Things will get no easier tonight as they face one of the best left-handed pitchers in all of baseball in the form of Carlos Rodon. Rodon had an outstanding season for the White Sox last year and inked a long-term contract with the Giants in the off-season. He is 6-4 this year but has an era of just 2.70.
The Giants have run a bit cold as of late and will look to get back on track against a very beatable Tigers team. The Tigers will sound a southpaw of their own to the bump in the form of Tarik Skubal. Skubal has been great for the Tigers this year with an era of 3.63, but he has five losses to his record as the run support has not been there from the Tigers when they send Skubal to the mound
I am going to back the Giants to bounce back at home tonight. They lost a series to the Reds, which is rare for a team as talented as the Giants, but they should settle down tonight against the Tigers and bounce back. Carlos Rodon has been outstanding all season for San Fransico and will be again tonight. The pressure lies on the Giants offense, who will have to get their bats going. Despite a great season from Skubal so far, I believe the line is suggesting the Giants get to him tonight. The Giants can also take advantage of the Tigers bullpen if they can run Skubal from the game early. I love this spot tonight for San Fran!
