It’s a juice-drinking day. I don’t make the rules I just take what the board gives me. Here's my best bet for Tuesday's St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins matchup with our sights set on young starting pitcher Braxton Garrett.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Miami Marlins Best Bet

1u - Braxton Garrett Over 4.5 Hits Allowed (-152) (Bet $152 to win $100)

Whenever I post a hits-allowed prop it moves right away and very easily. If you get this in at the same odds as me then awesome but I’ll start this article off with what I would do if we see line movement. For those with DraftKings, under the Same-Game Parlay, you can choose alt lines for hits allowed. I would take the 5+ hits allowed for Garrett, pair it with something like Cardinals o2.5 alt team total, and see where that puts you. The thing I like about that is that they are complimentary towards one another and should help each other hit.

So why am I so confident that Garrett allows 5+ hits? A 100% hit rate never hurts, although he has only started 4 games he has allowed 5 or more in all four. Garrett has allowed 25 hits in four games which is good for 6.25 a game. It won’t get any easier for him today against the Cardinals. St Louis bats a wild .266 against lefties. Guys like Goldy, Edman, and Arenado should absolutely feast today and are good options for people who like batter props. This number is 5.5 on some books at + money but we’ll go with the safe route with a better hit rate.

Garrett is still so young and has time to figure it out but tonight seems like a night that he gets hit pretty hard. The only way I don’t see this hitting is if he gets walk happy but he has shown that he can locate well thus far and has only walked 5 batters in those four games. This is probably a bet I would take against any team but the fact that it’s against one of the best teams against lefites is the icing on the cake. St Louis is also at home where they play significantly better. St Louis is 23-15 at home and even on the road, they should be comfortable and in a great spot to put up some early damage.
