Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox Best Bet: Can Michael Wacha and The Red Sox Dominate Early?
The Blue Jays and Red Sox meet in game two of their three-game series to close out June tonight from Rogers Centre. The Jays have continued with hot bats, and they have scored six or more runs in six of their last eight games. The Red Sox saw their seven-game win streak snapped yesterday, as they finally fell 2-7 to the Jays in game one. The Red Sox bats have also been hot, as they are first overall in team batting average at .261. So what's the best play in this game?

Toronto Blue Jays vs. Boston Red Sox Prediction
Michael Wacha gets the nod for the Red Sox today. Wacha is an incredible 6-1 on the year with a 2.34 ERA in 12 starts. Wacha is in the eighth year of his MLB career and is currently having the best season of his career. The biggest change for Wacha this season has been the significant increase in his sinker.
Almost half the pitches that Wacha throws are a changeup or a sinker. Wacha went from 3% sinkers in 2021 to 14% sinkers in 2022, and opponents are batting just .122 off his sinker, making it his best pitch. Wacha's strikeout percentage has fallen, but his barrel percentage and hard-hit percentage are down significantly from last season.

The Red Sox are 9-3 in games started by Wacha. More impressively, the Red Sox have yet to be trailing after five innings in all 12 of Wacha's starts. Wacha is 8-0-4 on the first-half line on the season. The Blue Jays are no easy task, especially given their current hot bats, but I think Wacha gives the Red Sox the best chance to be winning or tied after five innings today.
Ross Stripling has been excellent in June. Stripling is 4-1 in five starts with a 1.16 ERA in June. However, I think he is due for a sour end to the month. The Red Sox have dominated Stripling in his career. In the three years, Stripling has been a Blue Jay, they are 0-5 when Stripling starts against the Red Sox. Stripling has a 9.47 ERA against the Red Sox as a Blue Jay over those five starts.
So while his last outing looked decent against the Red Sox, they seem to have his number, and I'm expecting a much poorer outing from him tonight. I am backing the Red Sox on the first-half line today, who are 12-0 catching a half-run when Wacha starts this season.
