Arizona Diamondbacks vs. San Diego Padres Prediction

The San Diego Padres and the Arizona Diamondbacks will meet up for the final game of this short two-game set. If you bet on the Padres last night, you probably woke up today and wanted to quit gambling. That is how it sometimes goes as they led the game 6-0 heading to the bottom of the 7th. If you for some reason, bet on Arizona down 6-0, and you know there is someone in the world who did it, you probably feel like you will never lose a bet again. That is the beautiful thing about sports gambling.

Today we will see Madison Bumgarner try and shut down this Padres lineup. He will be opposed by the man they call sunshine in the form of Mike Clevinger. The Padres are on a bit of a slide as of late, losing three games in a row and four of their last five overall.

The Padres are currently playing without their two stars in Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. They have other guys on this team who can step up, and they have the last two days, but the pitching has let them down. They blew a 5-2 lead to the Phillies on Sunday and now a 6-0 one last night. They will hope Clevinger is up to the task this afternoon against an all of a sudden hot D-Backs lineup. Arizona has scored eighteen runs in the last two ball games. That is rare territory for this team, but they will look to feed off of that momentum today. 

I am backing the Padres on the moneyline here today. I really like this as a good bounce-back spot coming off that bad loss last night. They also had a bad loss on Sunday, so I expect them to get that bad taste out of their mouth today. This is a guy San Diego is very familiar with in Madison Bumgarner, and they should be able to put up some runs today.

The pitching is the question mark but Clevinger, when right, is one of the most dangerous rams in all baseball. He has had some injuries that have set him back a bit, but the hope is now he is fully healthy and can remain on the field. This is not a very good bullpen for Arizona either, so if the Pads can get to Bumgarner, they should be able to put up runs and cruise to this win.
