I would probably pay this up to -150. I really think Braves should be heavier favorites than this. On the bump for Philadelphia is Kyle Wright who is admittedly hit or miss but I think he bounces back today. The man has allowed double-digit hits twice in his last two starts, he’s due a start where he allows not nearly as many. Philadelphia hits righties at a respectable .244 clip but most of that data is when Harper was healthy and now that he’s hurt that takes away their biggest fear bat in the lineup.
The top reason I like this bet though is Atlanta against a lefty. The Braves hit .262 against lefties and are also on the “teams that owe us” list we’ve been collecting from. Every other player or team has done their job for us when we have one of these narratives so let's hope that continues tonight. Pitching for Philly is Ranger Suarez. Suarez isn’t a bad pitcher by any means but he has shown to struggle against Atlanta. When they faced off this year he allowed 5 ER in 4.1 innings pitched. The guy got demolished and I see no reason that shouldn’t happen again.
I’m not going to sit here and speculate if Acuna returns from injury tonight but I think we can win either way. Suarez is especially bad at home this year holding a 5.10 ERA at Citizens Bank Park. I first was leaning toward taking the Braves team total but thought about the bullpen advantage. Atlanta has the 3rd best bullpen in terms of ERA in baseball and the Phillies rank near the middle. We have Atlanta against a lefty, a solid pitcher on the mound for us, and a bullpen advantage. I’ll take us to win here. Atlanta is admittedly better at home but 19-15 on the road is nothing to shrug at and I like their chances of getting #20 while on the road.
