Tampa Bay Rays vs. Milwaukee Brewers Prediction
The Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays will battle it out from the sunshine state early on Wednesday afternoon to put a bow on this quick two-game series. The Brewers got the best of the Rays yesterday to win the first game by a final score of 5-3.
The Rays sit in fourth place in the AL East entering play despite being seven games over the .500 mark. That shows just how good this AL East has been this season. The Yankees are having a historic start to their season, while the Red Sox and Blue Jays have turned in outstanding years so far.
The Brewers sit at the top of the Central with the Cardinals right on their heels. These two teams match up similarly that neither has a great offense but both pitch well and play excellent defense. Milwaukee ranks fourteenth in runs per game, while the Rays rank twenty-fourth. Despite raking twenty-fourth in total runs per game, this is a Rays team still slated to make the postseason. They have had to deal with multiple big injuries this year, limiting their lineup most notably to Brandon Lowe and Wander Franco. Franco returned to the lineup this week, and the Rays will need his bat to be better than ever in his return. We will see a pair of southpaws get the ball today as the Brewers send Eric Lauer to the mound, and he will be opposed by Jalen Beeks.
I am backing the Rays on the moneyline today. I believe this is a good bounce-back spot after a tough day for them yesterday. Lauer is a guy I think will continue to regress after a good start to his season. The Rays lineup is better than they have performed so far this season, and a lot of that has to do with the injuries they have had to encounter. They are now healthy from an offensive standpoint, and that should reflect the next couple of weeks. Jalen Beeks has been throwing the ball well, and I expect more of that today. I trust this Tampa bullpen to close once they have a lead. Let’s keep rolling today!
