Seattle Mariners vs. Oakland Athletics Prediction

The Oakland Athletics face the Seattle Mariners taking place from Seattle on Friday night for game two of this four-game divisional series.

The Athletics enter this game as the worst team in all of baseball. The A's moved on from multiple All-Stars in the off-season, and many think they will move more pieces as the trade deadline approaches. They departed from Matt Olson and Matt Chapman, along with outfielders Starling Marte and Mark Canha. They also moved on from multiple young pitching arms. This left a lot of people wondering what they were doing, but this is how Oakland has done things over the last couple of decades. The record is not surprising to many, but Oakland will do everything in their power to start to turn their season around.

The Mariners had one of the more disappointing starts to the season of any team. This is a team who was aggressive in the off-season and improved an already good roster. Their hope is to make the playoffs, and thanks to a run the last week and a half, they have put themselves back in a position to make the playoffs. The Mariners got into a bench-clearing brawl with the Angels last week, leaving many players facing suspensions. JP Crawford began serving his suspension yesterday while a few other key players continue their appeal. 

I am backing the Mariners tonight on the -1 line. I believe this is a really good spot for Seattle and think they dominate this series. Oakland is simply not a good baseball team and finding spots to back them this season has been challenging. They have been a great fade, and tonight should be another great one.

Marco Gonzales has been throwing the baseball really well for Seattle this season and should hold down this limited Oakland offense. Seattle has not had good numbers offensively, but they have been on a tear as of late and are playing with supreme confidence at the moment. This is a team on paper that is much better than they have played this year, and I believe they will continue to right the ship.
