Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins Prediction: Can Josiah Gray Mow Down the Marlins?
It's Friday which means a lot of things to a lot of people. For most it means the end of the work week. For some it means they're starting a bender, but for me it means gambling (and possibly a bender). Lucky for us, there are almost 200 games on the MLB slate tonight so finding something to bet should be pretty easy. The Cubs are hosting the Red Sox at 2:20pm ET so if you can find something to slam in that game, I would go ahead and do it.
I could not so if you can't either, then you can join me at 6:05pm ET when the Washington Nationals host the Miami Marlins. That's still pretty early so we have that going for us. We also should be happy that the play I found has a zero percent chance of losing.
Let's dive into my player prop pick, prediction, and odds for the Nationals vs Marlins game tonight.

Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins Pick
Josiah Gray Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)
*Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing*
We're at BetMGM since they have the best price. Both FanDuel and DraftKings have seemed to catch on to this guy since they are both -125+ on him. Obviously, FanDuel has ladders so if you have to get wild, you could always go 7+ (+162). I'm still not sure I want to get wild so I'll wait to see a lineup and umpire before firing away. Although I'll still probably get wild no matter what the manager puts out.
Washington Nationals vs Miami Marlins Prediction
This Josiah Gray guy is someone you have to be precise with. You can't just get all willy-nilly when you play him. Although he's a 5.5 guy these days even though he only has 82 strikeouts in 75.1 innings of work. It's not like he's Randy Johnson out there. Still, he's a guy that can sit people down whenever he wants to so he needs to be on our radar. I just wish he was still a 4.5 (+) money guy. Those were fun days.
Gray has started four games in the month of June and while his team has lost three of them, he has been decent. He's actually been good in terms of strikeouts fanning at least six guys in three of the four games. He's actually gone for nine twice but that's not even the best reason to play him tonight. Gray has only had two outings all season where he was allowed to go over 100 pitches and both were in his last three starts. In one game he threw 117 pitches which is crazy.
If our guy Josiah gets to throw 100+ pitches tonight, I like his chances against the Miami Marlins. You might not see them amongst the teams that have struck out the most over the last week but that's only because they've only had 158 at-bats. They still managed to fan in 43 of them. Gray has already seen these guys three times this season and has managed at least six strikeouts in all three games. He sat 10 of them down back in April. It feels like everyone in the lineup is a 20+% whiff guy over the last couple of weeks so not much has changed. I think Gray could get this by the second inning. Maybe even sooner.
