Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction: Expect Early Offense from Mookie Betts, Dodgers

The New York Mets might've got to 50 wins first, but the Los Angeles Dodgers are now the first team to 51 wins and have the best record in the NL after defeating the Colorado Rockies for the second straight game last night. Mitch White was supposed to pitch yesterday but was pushed back to tonight's start for the Dodgers. The Dodgers still got the win yesterday. Now the Rockies are just going to look to salvage this series against the Dodgers and hope to win the last game of the series.

Here are our picks, predictions, and odds for Wednesday's game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction

We thought it would be Mitch White last night. Instead, he's going to pitch tonight. White has been solid for the Dodgers, holding a 1-1 record with a 3.93 ERA. The Dodgers have lost a couple of starters throughout the season, including Walker Buehler and Andrew Heaney. White has done a great job as a fill-in. In the last 30 days, White has had a 4.82 xFIP with 19% of strikeouts. He's also walked just 5.2% of batters while inducing 48.8% of ground balls. On top of that, White has limited line drives to 16.3% and has ultimately limited power from both sides of the plate. He'll take on a Rockies lineup that has struggled against righties. Colorado has a .144 ISO and wOBA of .284 against righties in the last 30 days. Only C.J. Cron has elite numbers against righties, with a .258 ISO and wOBA of .364 in the last 30 days. The Rockies have also hit 47.2% of ground balls in the last 30 days against righties with just 21.3% of line drives from the projected lineup in the last 30 days.

Jose Urena will get the start for the Rockies tonight. Urena hasn't pitched since April 26 and is holding a 3.52 ERA on the year through four games. In those four games, he's thrown just 7.2 innings with three strikeouts recorded. He's also had a WHIP of 1.57 in those 7.2 innings, which also isn't great. If you combine 2021 and 2022, Urena has a 5.23 xFIP with 13.9% of strikeouts and 9.6% of walks. He's been dreadful but is able to earn a solid amount of grounders while limiting line drives. Lefties have given Urena more of a problem, therefore, batters like Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Jeremy Lamb, Cody Bellinger, and Gavin Lux could all have success against Urena. Ultimately, there will be many base runners for the Dodgers tonight. With that said, the Dodgers are a -325 favorite. The only way to bet on the Dodgers is by taking their team totals. I'm going to ride with the first five team total of 3.5 at +110. I can turn the Dodgers' success from -325 to a +110 with just four runs in the first five innings.
