Handicapper and player prop expert John Hyslop is back with another top MLB player prop bet for Thursday. This time his pick comes from the Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels game with his sights set on righty Jordan Lyles.
ANALYSIS

Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction: Can Jordan Lyles Shut Down Jared Walsh and the Angels?

Everyone has a routine that begins when they get out of bed every morning. Some get up, make the bed, and head for the coffee machine. I'm sure there are some out there that take a shower and get dressed, then hit the streets. For me, I like to pick up my phone, see who is pitching against the Los Angeles Angels, and then dump a bunch of cash on that guy's strikeout prop over. It's just something I like to do this summer.

Lucky for us, I woke up this morning and saw that the Angels are in Baltimore tonight taking on the Orioles at 7:05 pm ET. It works out perfectly because I have nothing to do at that time and I could use a couple of bucks to stuff into my pockets. Feels like a classic win/win situation playing out right in front of our faces. We really lucked out.

Orioles vs. Angels Line Movement

Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels Pick

Jordan Lyles Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-110) (Bet $110 to win $100)

*Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing*

We are playing this one at BetMGM because they have a much better price than everyone else. DraftKings wants -130 for 4.5 and FanDuel is out here shaking people down for -138. That feels crazy in this economy. If you're at FanDuel you may as well just bump Lyles up to 6+ (+162) and really stick it to the man.

Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels Prediction

Everyone knows Jordan Lyles owes us money after not giving up a ton of hits as we needed him to last Saturday. A lot of people would ban him but not us. We want our money back. It's just that simple. The thing is, maybe we should change our approach this time around. Normally it isn't smart to ride a "77 strikeout in 92 innings pitched this season" type of guy at 4.5 but this time we can probably make an exception.

The thing with Lyles is, he's capable of mowing guys down. Seven of this guy's 16 starts this season have ended with him fanning at least six guys. That's not bad. He looks like he may be heating up too. Over his last four starts, he's sat down seven guys twice. The other two saw him embarrass four in each game. One of those games was against the Washington Nationals who don't even strike out. The other was against the Chicago White Sox who have the sixth-fewest whiffs on the season.

We don't have to worry about an opponent who doesn't strike out much tonight with the Los Angeles Angels in town. No team in MLB has struck out more than they have this season and they are running away with the title. We're looking at a team that has fanned 802 times already this season in just 2753 at-bats. Over the last two weeks, it's 119 strikeouts in only 343 at-bats. That's over 34% of the time people. Lyles might get this number in the first inning.
