Padres vs. Giants Line Movement

San Diego Padres vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

The Giants will look to start a winning streak with Logan Webb on the mound. Webb is 7-3 with a 3.13 ERA and has been one of the few bright spots for the Giants.

The right-handed ace has had a 3.41 xFIP in the last 30 days with 23.4% of strikeouts and 5.5% of walks. He’s also been able to induce 56.2% of ground balls while limiting power at a high rate.

Meanwhile, the Padres have an inconsistent lineup with the top of the lineup producing but the bottom half struggling.

The Padres are getting enhanced numbers from the first four bats between Jurickson Profar, Manny Machado, Jake Cronenworth, and Luke Voit. But the rest of the lineup is lacking power and high wOBA numbers. Still, the Padres have limited strikeouts to about 20% in the last 30 days with their projected lineup, which could help their case.

For the Padres, it'll be Joe Musgrove on the mound. Musgrove has been slightly better than Webb, holding an 8-2 record with a 2.25 ERA on the season.

In the last 30 days, Musgrove has had a 3.04 xFIP with 27.7% of strikeouts and 5% of walks. Like Webb, the right-hander is also earning a high amount of ground balls but is giving up more power to right-handed batters in the last 30 days.

However, the Giants will likely send out six lefties in their lineup tonight.

The Giants have always been great at maximizing different matchups. But lately, the Giants are hitting an ISO of .163 with a wOBA of .305 in the last 30 days against righties.

Only Joc Pederson has been hitting consistently against righties for the Giants in the last 30 days. The rest of the team has a wOBA below .335 against righties while Pederson has a .360 wOBA.

Therefore, I'm going to enjoy this pitching matchup and take the under in the first game of this new series.
