Tigers vs White Sox Prediction
This was supposed to be a Tigers team who competed for a playoff position. A lot of people thought of them as a dark house after an active off-season. Javier Baez has not been as good as the Tigers were hoping for so far, but as talented as Baez is, he can turn it around at any moment.
The Tigers currently sit nine games out of a playoff spot in the wildcard. The Sox continue to take one step forward and two steps back. The White Sox had a great win on Wednesday night when their offense broke out for nine runs against the Twins. This was with the addition of Eloy Jimenez in the lineup, which many thought would help turn around this team.
After that nine-run game, the White Sox offense was shut down last night, mustering just one run. The Sox offense will look to bounce back tonight against southpaw Tarik Skubal. Skubal has been a gas can as of late after a great start to his season. Skubal has not gotten past the fifth inning since June 7th. In his last five starts, he has allowed twenty-three runs. His era has jumped to 4.06. His era was just 2.15 on June 1st. Lucas Giolito will toe the rubber for the Sox, fresh off a strong outing against the Giants.
I am back on the Sox train tonight after that bad loss last night. Skubal has been awful in his previous five starts, and I believe the league has figured him out. Chicago has torched left-handed pitching the last couple of seasons, and this year is no different. The Sox rank second in the league in OPS vs. southpaws at .794.
The only team better in the league is the Rockies. The Sox batting average is .285 against lefties which is again second to just the Rockies. The bottom line here is that they see lefties extremely well, and they get a struggling one tonight at home. Lucas Giolito has not been great this year, but he is in his best form of the season, allowing just three runs in his last two starts combined. He is pitching with supreme confidence at the moment. This is an excellent spot for the Sox tonight. Let’s stay hot!
