Los Angeles Dodgers vs Chicago Cubs Prediction: Can Julio Urias Shut Down Willson Contreras and The Cubs?
It's Sunday which means it's a great day to gamble. Plus we woke up so there's that too. There's no need to waste time not gambling. Lucky for us, there is an entire slate of MLB games today so it should be easy to find something to bet on. I decided to focus on the later games since I need something to occupy my time during the 4:00-7:00 pm ET window. Plus I woke up later than I normally do so there's that too. The later slate is just a natural fit. It's a good thing too because the Chicago Cubs are still out in Los Angeles getting big-boyed by the Dodgers. They're going off at 4:10 pm ET and the game is on MLB Network. Anytime there's a game on television and you don't have anything better to do, you bet on it. Everyone knows that. Today is no different.

Julio Urias 7+ Strikeouts (+140) (Bet $100 to win $140)
*Odds available at FanDuel at time of publishing*
We're at FanDuel for this one since DraftKings and the others don't really have ladders. If you have to play somewhere else, you'll likely be looking at 5.5 (-165) or even higher. That's what's hanging at DraftKings right now. Still, if I had to, I'd do it since I do what I have to do when I have to do it. It's what I do. But at the end of the day, laddering up at FanDuel just makes you feel alive so I'm choosing life today.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs Chicago Cubs Prediction
Here's the thing about Julio Urias. He wears glasses on the mound. I've never been a big "glasses on the mound" guy when I create players on MLB The Show and I'm not one in real life either. I get that the guy needs to see so I can let it go for the sake of this afternoon's bet. It also helps that the guy wearing the glasses on the mound throws gas and has been sitting guys down like a boss lately.
I don't know what happened since the beginning of that season but over his last five starts, Urias has gone for at least seven strikeouts in three of them. The times he didn't, he ended with six and five. The time he fanned six was against the Cleveland Guardians who have struck out fewer than every MLB team this season. That start doesn't even count. This guy is a pitcher, not a miracle worker.
Today Urias gets the Chicago Cubs which is a gift for any pitcher. It's like a day off since you don't really have to work, but you also get paid since you get to compile stats. Total win/win situation for the hurlers out there. Over the last two weeks, only three teams in MLB have stuck out more than the Cubs. We're talking 126 times in 450 at-bats here people. That's almost 28% of the time. They've got two guys that have whiffed over 40% of the time in that span and another three that are 30% guys over the period. If there is a team out there besides the Los Angeles Angels that we should be laddering against, it's the Cubs. Feels like a good idea.
