So I see that this is juiced to -160 on DraftKings already, you could play that alone, and I wouldn’t mind it, but for those who don’t, I would pair it with something that should be easy. You can go to alternate run lines and take a team for +4 to reduce the juice. Cole has no reason not to get a win today. He plays the Reds for crying out loud. Cole has a win in each of his last two outings, and that was against Boston and Cleveland. He gave up 5 ER against Boston and still got the win. This bet has that upside.
Cole pitched 5+ innings in 12 of his last 13 games. I don’t see the Reds getting him out of the game early, so we just need him to get some nice run support. The Yankees are at home, where they are 34-9, and the bats always perform. Graham Ashcraft is on the mound for the Reds, and although he has shown some promise, he has still allowed 21 runs in his last 5 games. In those games, he has pitched 26 innings total. 21 runs in 26 innings in just over .8 runs per inning. The Yankees score the most runs in baseball with 5.23, so it won’t get any easier today for him.
If Cole leaves the game eligible for a win, then I really like his chances. Cincinnati has the worst bullpen in the MLB with a 5.42 ERA, and the Yankees have the 2nd best with a 2.74 ERA, only trailing the Astros. The Yankees have better bats, a better starting pitcher, and a much better bullpen. They are -315 favorites for a reason. This bet is an absolute steal at -135. Cole also is a better home pitcher holding a 2.31 ERA. This is the first bet of the day that stood out to me, and at the very minimum, it’s a great parlay piece for after we nuke the odds on books even more.
