Marlins vs. Pirates Line Movement

Miami Marlins vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

The Pittsburgh Pirates and the Miami Marlins will clash from the sunshine state on Wednesday night for game three of this four-game series. The Pirates have owned this series so far, winning the first two games. The Marlin's offense has struggled to get anything going scoring just three runs in the first two games combined. That is not a recipe for winning ball games, and tonight they will need their offense to step up and provide them some runs.

Miami will have one of their best arms on the mound in Pablo Lopez, who will try and hold down this Pittsburgh offense. Lopez has one of the best ERAs in the majors at just 2.91. His record is just 6-4 despite that great ERA, as the Marlins have not given him a ton of run support. He will need some tonight, and this Marlins offense is more than due.

Talking about guys who do not get run support, JT Brubaker gets the ball tonight for the Pirates. Brubaker has actually been solid this year with an ERA of 4.34 but represents a record of just 2-8. The Pirates have not given him much run support this season, and they will look to change that tonight. It will certainly be a challenge facing Lopez. The Marlins will look to bounce back with a win today and give themselves a chance for a series split.

I am backing Miami on the -1 line. This offense is more than due, and I believe that they can get to Brubaker tonight. Brubaker is a solid arm, but he is a guy you can count on getting a few runs off. Pablo Lopez is good enough to shut out this offense or hold them down to a run or two.

Miami is still firmly in the playoff hunt, so I expect them to focus up for this game tonight and understand how bad it would be to go down 3-0 in the series to Pittsburgh at home. I have this line closer to -160, so this is a no-brainer for me tonight. Let’s keep rolling on the diamond!
