Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres Best Bet: Can Kris Bryant and the Rockies Get the Better of Blake Snell?
There's nothing better than getting to turn on a game in the middle of a work day to help get through the day, and even better, betting on it. Today's afternoon game features the series closer between the Rockies and Padres, with the Rockies leading the series 2-1. The Rockies need a win today to secure a good series win against a divisional opponent, while the Padres look to escape with a tie. Yesterday's game saw 16 runs scored in a 10-6 Rockies win. Will we see a high score again?
Let's get into my prediction, best bet, and odds for Thursday's game between the Padres and Rockies.

Rockies vs Padres Line Movement
Colorado Rockies vs San Diego Padres Prediction
The first two games of the series went under, albeit the first hooked the under, as it hit 11 runs with a line of 11.5. Sometimes when teams travel to Coors Field, it can take a little while to adjust to the VMI (Visual Memory Index) given the change in altitude and thus air pressure, which can affect the ball's movement and carry. Even the Rockies have this trouble occasionally after road trips, where they score less in their first game back home before adjusting and scoring more as the series progresses. Well, both teams have adjusted by this point, as it's the fourth game of the series.
The weather will also help the case for the over today. The wind is blowing out to left, and it will be a scorching hot 97 degrees in Denver today. This will make an already hitter-friendly park even more hitter-friendly.
Blake Snell has been struggling this season and has the highest ERA of any year of his career so far. He is 1-5 with a 4.66 ERA. Snell is coming off two good starts to start July against the Giants and Dodgers, but pitching in Coors is a different beast, especially for a left-handed pitcher.
The Rockies are currently the top team in the league against left-handed pitching with a .288 average. That average increases to .303 at home in Coors, and they average 7.5 runs per nine innings against lefties. Snell's last three starts in Coors were not great, as he went 4.2 innings with 4 earned runs, 3.1 innings with 7 earned runs, and 4 innings with 2 earned runs. The Rockies have seen him twice already this year, and this lineup dominates southpaws. The Rockies also have the highest average in the MLB in day games. They are hitting .266 in daytime affairs.
However, the Padres should be able to give Snell some run support today. The Rockies are starting Kyle Freeland, who has also been slumping this season. His 4.7 ERA is the second-lowest of any year in his career, and the Rockies are 8-9 in his starts. The Bullpen won't have his back either, as the Rockies bullpen has the second-highest ERA in the MLB at 4.76.
The bats are hot after last night's game, and I expect the sticks to show up again today with two below-average pitchers taking the mound. The Rockies should put up their fair share against Snell, and the Padres can retaliate against the MLB's second-worst bullpen. It's going to be a hot day in Denver, so we should see at least a few leave the park. Take the over in this series closer.
