St. Louis Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Reds Prediction

The Cincinnati Reds and the St Louis Cardinals will battle it out on Friday night from Busch Stadium. The Reds are fresh off one of the more surprising series of the season when they took two of three from the best team in baseball, the New York Yankees.

The Reds got off to one of the worst starts in MLB history, but they have actually been a solid team the last month. They would need a miracle to make the playoffs, but at least they are playing much better baseball. This is a team filled with young talent they hope to continue and make this a team to beat in the future. One of those young guys is Jonathan India, who won the NL Rookie of the Year just a season ago. He has hit a bit of a sophomore slump this season but has been playing much better as of late.

The Cardinals enter this game losing two of three to the Dodgers, which included blowing a 6-0 lead with two outs in the 7th inning. Despite that loss, the Cardinals are currently still holding the final spot in the playoffs. They hold a half of a game over the Phillies. This is a talented Cardinals team that has a lot of experience on their roster. Paul Goldschmidt is having an MVP-caliber season, and Nolan Arenado has been playing much better baseball as of late. The legend Albert Pujols has helped the team out this season and will have a big week ahead of him. Pujols announced he would participle in the Home Run Derby in his final season, and the league added him as an All-Star. Tonight we will see Hunter Greene on the mound for the Reds, and Andre Pallante will oppose him.

I am backing the Cardinals here tonight. The Cards have been great to us this season, and this should be another perfect spot for St Louis. This is a team coming off a pair of tough losses, and they should be well motivated for a bounce back tonight against a team that they are much better than.

I believe that this experienced lineup will get to Hunter Greene early and often. Greene is a young guy who has the most 100 mph pitches in the league this season. His issue is control and falling behind in counts. Against a team like St. Louis, who is experienced, they will make life tough on Greene today.

Pallante is an arm that is not overwhelming but should be able to turn in five or six innings and give up two or three runs. I have a lot more faith in the Cardinals bullpen as the Reds have one of the worst bullpens in all of baseball. I love this spot for the Cardinals at home tonight.
