2022 MLB All-Star Game Prediction: Can the American League Offense Get Hot?
For some of you, this could be the first time you've ever thought about betting on the MLB All-Star Game. If that's you, let me be the first to say congratulations. You've arrived. You're an actual real-life gambler at this point. The reason I say that is because betting on any exhibition is pure gambling. Sure you can have an idea of what will happen, but at the end of the day, nobody knows what they are about to watch. Some people are scared of that which is fine. They don't understand that these types of bets are where the magic happens. It's just how magic works. Lucky for us, I have experience betting on these things and I have an angle that actually should pay off. If we're being honest, this could be the greatest all-star game of all time. Any sport.

2022 MLB All-Star Game Pick
American League Team Total Over 3.5 (-115) (Bet $115 to win $100)
*Odds available at BetMGM at time of publishing*
This one is pretty much everywhere but I went to BetMGM since they have the best price. FanDuel is showing 3.5 (-118) so they're not far off while DraftKings is hanging 3.5 (-125). In all honesty, they're all fine to bet. We're talking about an all-star game here people. Logic and reason has already left the building. If you're concerned with price, you wouldn't be betting this thing. Still, I wouldn't go much higher than -125 on anything involving exhibitions so there is that.
2022 MLB All-Star Game Prediction
The thing about betting on an exhibition is you're doing it for entertainment. Unless you've somehow figured out the result before everyone else. This is highly unlikely for this event so we'll just assume we're all here to be entertained. Since that's the case, we're taking an over on something. That's just how quality entertainment works. Nobody bets the under for entertainment. That's dumb.
Generally speaking, the MLB All-Star Game has been relatively low scoring. The squads have only combined to reach eight runs four times in the last 13 games between the leagues. It makes sense because of the quality of pitching. We don't have any 5+ ERA guys to pounce on. Looking at the pitchers that will throw tonight, it looks like we have the same quality we've seen in recent years so for that reason the over 7.5 for both teams is just not on the table. Sure a fireworks show could break out but I'm not betting my night on that.
Ruling out the over 7.5 for both teams is how I came up with the AL team total. Over the last seven All-Star Games, they've gone over 3.5 in six of them. The haters are going to say that they're due for an under but that's just dumb. They'll say anything at this point. It's really all they can do. Don't listen to them. At the end of the day, six out of seven isn't bad at all. It really doesn't mean much for this game since there are different players on the teams but still. When my wife asks why I bet what I bet on the all-star game, it feels good to say this has happened in six of the last seven meetings. No more questions will be asked. Feels right.
