One of baseball's best rivalries will be renewed on Thursday night as we will see the San Francisco Giants vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers. This is one of the oldest baseball rivalries and has been competitive as of late.

The Giants turned in their best season in franchise history a season ago, and their reward was seeing the best team in baseball in the wildcard round. The Dodgers outlasted the Giants and would go on to eliminate them in the first round. Let's dive into my prediction, pick, and odds for the Giants vs Dodgers game.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction

It does not appear that the Giants will win the division this season, as well as the Dodgers, have been playing. It looks like a two-horse race in the NL West between the Dodgers and the Padres, with a significant advantage for the Dodgers. This is the best team in baseball on paper, and they are the current favorites to come out of the National League. The Giants are fighting for a playoff spot in the NL in what is a crowded wildcard race.

Tonight we will see Carlos Rodon get the ball for Gabe Kapler and the Giants. Rodon was an all-star this season after inking a contract with the Giants in the offseason. The southpaw will have to shut down one of the best offenses in baseball tonight. Rodon will be opposed by Mitch White, who has been solid for the Dodgers this season. Despite the clear pitching advantage, the Giants enter play as dogs tonight. 

I will not be looking at a side here but rather a total. The Giants are sending their best arm to the mound tonight, and despite this being a top three offense stat wise they go on droughts at times. With that said, I am taking the under.

Mitch White is not a top-tier arm, but he will be solid enough tonight in my eyes to limit this Giants offense tonight. The Giants will either score five runs or be completely shut down. The Dodgers have one of the best bullpens in baseball, so as long as White can limit them to a couple of runs, we should be good here. I know it is scary to fade the Dodgers offense, but we will get an all-star arm in Rodon tonight, who I trust. Let’s cash in on this late-night under!
