Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers Prediction
The Rangers have had an up and down season so far and will look to turn things around in the second half. This is an extremely talented lineup on paper, but the pitching let down Texas in the first half of the season. The Rangers rank 11th entering play in runs scored per game, but they will have one of their toughest tasks of the season today when they face Pablo Lopez.
Lopez has had a stellar year so far, coming into the ball game with an era of just 2.86. He and Sandy Alcantara have been as good as any one-two punch in the game. Miami has been the opposite this year as their starting pitching has been solid, but their bats can not seem to get going.
The Marlins are still in a position where if they get hot, they can be a playoff team, and in a series, no team will want to face Alcantara and Lopez. Texas will send their best arm to the mound today in the form of Jon Gray. Gray inked a deal in the off-season with Texas after pitching for the Rockies for years. He will look to shut down this Miami offense this afternoon. The line is basically a pick ‘em today.
I will be looking at a prop centered around Pablo Lopez. Lopez, who makes way of Venezuela, has dominated teams all season long. We are getting a beautiful buy low spot on him this afternoon. We will be taking his over 17.5 outs which is currently priced at -135.
All this means is that Lopez has to pitch six innings, and we win. He has had a ton of rest since the all-star break and should come out in great form this afternoon. The reason I said this is a great buy low spot is he has struggled to get over this number the last couple of games despite having good outings.
His pitch count has been an issue, but this is an aggressive Texas lineup, so I do not see many deep counts. He has missed this number in three of his last four outings, so he is due to climb over today. Let’s get the second half of the season started with a bang!
Miami Marlins vs Texas Rangers Player Prop Pick
Pick: Pablo Lopez Over 17.5 Outs -135 (Bet $135 to win $100)
