We can finally be happy again as the MLB is back today. We have six games which is not great, but it is better than what we have had the past three days. It was a hard time not getting baseball, but we should all be very proof of ourselves that we made it through. The Detroit Tigers vs. the Oakland Athletics will take place from the coliseum on Monday afternoon for Game 1 of this day-night doubleheader. Let's dive into my prediction, picks, and odds for Game 1 between the Athletics and Tigers.

Oakland Athletics vs Detroit Tigers Prediction

These two teams both experienced tough first halves and will look to flip the script on their seasons. The Tigers came into the year looking like they could be a playoff team. They added Javier Baez in the off-season, which was a big boost on paper, but he has not had things go his way so far this year.

The Tiger's best player this season has been future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera was an all-star this year in what will be his final MLB season. The As came into the season knowing it was going to be a long year.

Oakland dealt multiple starts last year, essentially blowing up the team. It is expected that they will continue to move players at the trade deadline. The As had one all-star as it is required you do, and it was starting pitcher Paul Blackburn. Oakland will send southpaw Zach Louge to the mound today, and he will be opposed by Tarik Skubal for the Tigers. 

I am backing the Tigers in game one of this series. Skubal has not been great as of late, but he has much better stuff than Louge and is the better arm to back here. These teams have both had tough years swinging the bats, but the better offense without a doubt is the Tigers.

I actually believe that this could be a team that turns their season around and competes in the second half. They have the talent, and if they can get their bats going, this could be a dangerous ball club. They had a chance to recharge the last few days, and I expect a focused effort here from Detirot this afternoon in Game 1.

They will have to face Frankie Montas in Game 2, the As best arm, so it will be crucial they win Game 1 of this set. Let’s stay hot today!
