Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Washington Nationals Prediction

The Washington Nationals battle the Arizona Diamondbacks taking place from Arizona on Friday night. This will be both teams' first game since the All-Star break. These two teams are not slated to be playoff teams and most likely will be sellers at the deadline.

There has been a lot of news out of Washington in the last week or so around Juan Soto. The Nats reportedly offered Soto the largest contract in MLB history, which was $440 million dollars, and he turned it down. It now looks like the Nationals will look to trade Soto at the deadline. This is huge news as he may be the best player in baseball, and he is just 23 years old. Whoever is trading for him will have to give up a ton but will be getting back a superstar. This will be fun to watch unfold.

The Nats will not only be looking to move Soto at the deadline but also Josh Bell and Nelson Cruz. Bell has had a solid season so far and would be a nice bat for teams to add. Nelson Cruz is one of the best hitters the game has seen in the last decade and would provide power and experience.

Arizona still has an outside shot of being a playoff team, but their chances look slim. They have some young talent that they are very excited about, but they could be in the market to deal some of their older players who can make an impact. The man getting the ball tonight for Arizona has been their best arm this season in Zac Gallen. Gallen will be opposed by southpaw Patrick Corbin a former Diamondback. 

I am backing the D-Backs on the moneyline tonight. The D-Backs have a massive advantage on the mound tonight with Gallen. Corbin has had an awful season and has been a great fade the entire year. He has struggled with command and should be out of this game by the fifth or sixth inning.

Washington also represents one of the worst bullpens in baseball, so if this is a close game, the D-Backs should have the edge here tonight. Washington is filled with guys that will be on the move in a couple of weeks, so I would be surprised to see them play focused baseball until after the deadline. This should be a great spot tonight.
