Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians Prediction
Tonight we have an AL Central matchup between the Guardians and the White Sox, which is a huge series for both teams who are battling for position and trying to catch the Twins.
The White Sox are starting Lucas Giolito, who has had a very tough summer as he tallied a 7.67 ERA in June across 5 starts but has figured things out a bit in July as he has put together some solid starts against Cleveland and San Francisco.
If there is one team that Giolito loves to pitch against, it’s the Cleveland Guardians. He is 2-0 against them this season in his only 2 starts versus them with an ERA of 0.68 as he has only allowed 1 earned run in just over 13 total innings of work. The Guardians don’t see the ball well against him for whatever reason.
The Guardians will be starting Cal Quantrill, who is having a pretty good season but has been like Jekyll and Hyde this season when looking at his home versus road splits. Quantrill comes into this game with a 1-5 record on the road and hasn’t won a First Five on the road since his first road start of the season against the Royals, which was the Guardians 4th game of the season.
I don’t like to bet based on trends, but we are nearly 2/3 of the way through this season, and it is evident that Quantrill is much more confident or comfortable at home compared to on the road, and this has to be taken into account. With that being said, I am rolling with White Sox F5 ML at -145 for 1U as my most confident MLB Play of the Day as I think Giolito will hold the Guardians down early.
Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Guardians Pick
