Well guys tonight’s article should be a fun one as it is the lone game on this evening and a rather marquee matchup. The San Diego Padres are in back in Queens this evening and are looking to really just put their foot on the gas here and finish out the series sweep over the New York Mets to kick off their second half of the season.

New York Mets vs. San Diego Padres Prediction

On the contrary, The Mets are looking to get a grip on the season series here and avoid the sweep on home field. New York has dropped five of the last six they have played against the Friars with last nights being the only one-run contest of them all. Despite the struggles against San Diego they are still tied for the lead in the NL East and with Atlanta getting stomped earlier today, they have an opportunity to get back ahead of the Braves.

I’ve seen chatter on the under and I understand why once again; I said the same thing last night on this spot and am aware of the possibility. These teams have great arms and play defensively sound, smart baseball; they also have a boat load of offensive firepower on both sides dying to break out.

There were men on base and countless little chances to swing momentum in the first two games of this series so far and I think in a nationally televised game that both teams are hungry to win we can see a little bit of back a forth here tonight hopefully.

The previous series between these two squads saw 51 runs in four games and totals were set low hitting easy; the first two games went under already here and it could happen again but I think it’s the contrary and giving me even more reason to bite on it here tonight. San Diego seems to own New York and they would love the sweep but if the Mets are hungry like they should be I expect a much better approach offensively.

I’ll touch on pitchers quickly here too.

In 73 PA against Joe Musgrove the current Mets Lineup is sporting a solid .277 batting average and .363 wOBA. He is the better of these two arms this evening no doubt but I still think the Mets could give him trouble. Carlos Carrasco has a strong 10-4 record but sporting a weak 4.27 ERA; the Padres have done decently against him in 93 PA sporting a .262 batting average and .319 wOBA but with the way they have had the Mets number I see some better results possible tonight.

Oh, and did I mention that the wind is blowing out with winds north of 13 miles per hour to the dead-center field?
