Handicapper and player prop expert John Hyslop is here with his top MLB player prop bet for Monday. His pick comes from the Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates game with his sights set on righty Adrian Sampson.
ANALYSIS

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction: Will Adrian Sampson Dominate Oneil Cruz and the Pirates?

It's Monday, and there is only one way I know to make a Monday better. Gambling. Not just any gambling though. What we need is a Play of the Millennium to get the week going. Something that legit has a zero percent chance of losing. Bets like those almost always make the week better. Lucky for us, there are at least 10 MLB games tonight. I didn't count them all, but the eyeball test says double digits. The reason that's important is that anytime there are double-digit games to choose from, there's always a Play of the Millennium hidden in there. It's math. And science. I've been doing this a long time, so I know what I'm talking about. If you don't believe me, then why don't you scroll down a little and grab what I like to call an education. There's one bet for tonight that we're going to call a Play of the Millennium, even though it's probably even better. I just don't know what we're calling bets better than a Play of the Millennium. Feels like that's the best there can be, but I could be wrong.

Cubs vs. Pirates Line Movement

Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates Prediction

Adrian Sampson Over 3.5 Strikeouts (+100) (Bet $100 to Win $100)

*Odds Available at DraftKings*

We're at DraftKings for this one because they have the best price. Plus, I happened to be in New Hampshire this morning, so I could place the wager there. The same number and price can be found at BetMGM, so if you can play there, you're gold. FanDuel is the book that's respecting Sampson a little more than the others, as they have 3.5 (-112). Still, they've got 6+ (+470), so if you're looking to be somebody today, they're giving you the chance.

This guy is a rare example of two awesome names. Usually, we'll see a great first name or a great last name but rarely do we get a double-up like this. History is filled with famous Adrian's, most notably the great Adrian Adonis. As if that wasn't enough, his last name Sampson was from the Bible. On top of that, the guy was a freaking warrior that derived strength from his hair. It should be noted that Adrian Sampson doesn't have great hair, but I don't think that matters in this case.

I can tell you right now that the haters are going to point out that Sampson hasn't hit this number in a couple of starts. As usual, the haters are just being haters who can't be trusted. First off, one start was against the New York Mets. Those guys barely ever strike out. The other start was against the Baltimore Orioles. Guess who has struck out less than they have over the last two weeks. Nobody. I rest my case. This Sampson guy has been a victim of the schedule.

Lucky for us, our guy Sampson catches what many would call a "gift from God" from the schedule tonight in the Pittsburgh Pirates. So far this season, only two teams in MLB have struck out more than they have. We're talking about a team that has fanned 110 times in their last 379 at-bats. What the hell is that all about? At the end of the day, we just need a guy named Adrian Sampson to strike out four guys on a team full of whiffers. We're even getting even money. This could be the greatest bet of all time.
