Philadelphia Phillies vs. Atlanta Braves Prediction
The Atlanta Braves battle the Philadelphia Phillies taking place from the city of brotherly love for game one of this NL East series. This is a big series for both of these teams as we wrap up the month of July.
The Braves have been the best team in baseball since June and have pulled within 1.5 games of the Mets for first place in the division. Philly struggled to start the season and ended up firing their manager Joe Girardi. It appears the move paid off as the Phillies leapfrogged into a playoff spot at the All-Star break.
The Phillies were swept by the Chicago Cubs over the weekend, which now puts them one game back for the final Wild Card spot. This was likely the Phillies worst series of the season as the Cubs are one of the worst baseball teams and were swept on their home field. They will look to bounce back tonight, and it will not be easy facing one of the best teams in baseball.
The Phillies will have to face one of the best arms in the league in the form of Max Fried tonight. Fried has continued to get better as the season has progressed and is the best arm the Braves have. Fried was a pivotal part of this team last year when they won the World Series. Opposing Fried will be southpaw Ranger Suarez, who has struggled this season for the Phillies.Â
I am looking at a prop tonight that I love. I will be backing Nick Castellanos over 1.5 bases which is currently sitting at +150.
Castellanos has caught a lot of hate in Philly as of late, as he has not had a great season to this point. I personally believe the media is overreacting to his season as it has not been as bad as most say. Castellanos got into an argument this weekend with one of Philly's most respected writers Jim Salisbury when he asked Castellanos if he heard the boos from the Philly crowd. Castellanos is clearly frustrated at the moment and would love nothing more than to turn it on for the rest of the season.
I love this spot for Nick tonight. He is known as one of the best doubles hitters in the game and has a ton of pop in his swing. He is also one of the best hitters in baseball versus left-handed pitching over the course of his career, and he will get a southpaw tonight. I will take my chances at plus money and trust Nick tonight!Â
