The Astros come into this game off of a very poor performance as Jake Odorizzi simply just didn’t have his best stuff last night. The typically anemic Oakland offense erupted for five runs in the fourth inning and that just proved to be too big of a deficit to overcome. Tonight the Astros will have another tough test as they face the A’s ace in Frankie Montas.

Montas has been very good this season, especially at home as he has posted a 2.57 ERA at home but is just 1-6 as he simply does not get any run support on most occasions. Earlier in the season, Montas faced the Astros at home in a game that was lined very differently compared to this one. Astros were -135/140 favorites and nearly a Pk on the F5 line at -115/-110 with Cristian Javier on the mound.

This F5 lien showed a lot of strength in the favor of Oakland compared to the full game line and now this line tonight is showing a lot of strength in the favor of Houston. Tonight the Astros are lined at -145/-150 on the F5 line and -160/170 for the game.

The Astros are starting Luis Garcia who is very comparable in season statistics to Cristian Javier and are two pitchers who are in very similar tiers talent-wise. But now the Astros are considerably more favored compared to the last meeting I mentioned earlier which I believe speaks to the book’s confidence in the Astros tonight.

This game also features the line dynamic I always mention of Houston being favored even while Garcia has a higher ERA than Montas and I think this is a great spot to back the Astros off a poor performance last night. With that being said, I am rolling with Astros F5 ML at -140 and Astros Full Game -1 at -120 for 1U each as my most confident MLB picks of the night.
