Chicago White Sox vs Oakland Athletics Prediction

The As are playing their best baseball of the season as they are fresh off a pair of series wins. They took two of the three against the Texas Rangers and responded with a sweep over the Houston Astros.

Oakland is expected to be very active next week at the trade deadline and play for the future. This is a team that has been competitive over the last five years or so, but they made the call to blow the team up in the off-season. The Oakland money ball style is to reload and not pay large contracts. That has been on display over the last season.

The White Sox entered the season as serious contenders to win a World Series. They had an underwhelming first half of the season, but they are starting to play a much better brand of baseball. The White Sox won three games in a row before losing to the Rockies on Tuesday night. This is a team that should still make the playoffs despite the tough start to the season. They now sit just three games back of the Twins for the lead in the AL Central and three and a half back in the wildcard.

Tonight they send veteran Lance Lynn to the mound. Lynn was one of the best pitchers in baseball last year but has been up and down this season. Opposing Lynn will be James Kaprielian, who enters this game with an era of 4.74 and one win on the season. 

I am all over the Sox today on the -1 line. I believe this line is extremely undervalued due to Lynn being inconsistent this season. Lynn is facing one of the worst lineups in baseball, however, and should be able to control them with relative ease. Kaprielian has really struggled to find his stuff this season, and now he is facing a confident lineup in Chicago.

I think that when healthy, this is a top-five lineup in baseball. If their bats can get hot early, we should cruise to the finish line in this game. Let’s stay hot tonight and cash in on the Sox!
