Handicapper and player prop expert John Hyslop is here with his top MLB player prop bet for Monday. His pick comes from the San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies game with his sights set on Antonio Senzatela.
ANALYSIS

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction, Picks, Odds: Will Antonio Senzatela Shut Down the Padres?

I woke up to the best news a person could possibly wake up to today (probably). It looks like Massachusetts will finally get sports betting. A bill was passed, and Charlie Baker is expected to sign it. It feels glorious. I'll miss sitting in the Dick's parking lot in Salem, New Hampshire, putting bets in, but all good things have to come to an end at some point. This news is cause for celebration, and I think we should do that by gambling. I wish there were a Strikeout Watch List to get down with, but if we're being honest, there are 10 games with only a few ladder options. More lines will come out, so there is always a chance for more action, but I only see one play with a 0.0% chance of losing. Sounds crazy, but I feel like that's enough.

San Diego Padres vs. Colorado Rockies Prediction

Antonio Senzatela 4+ Strikeouts (+112) (Bet $100 to Win $112)

*Odds Available at FanDuel*

We're at FanDuel for this one since DraftKings is only offering 3.5 (+105). Honestly, both are playable, but we always go with the best number and price. It just so happens FanDuel is the book for that when it comes to this one. For some reason, they don't have this one listed under "player strikeouts" for some reason. You have to go to "Antonio Senzatela - Alt Strikeouts" and scroll down. You can do it. I believe.

The haters are going to say that I only picked this game because it's on MLB Network and Antonio Senzatela isn't even a strikeout guy. Maybe that's true, but I'm not hiding from the fact that he isn't a strikeout guy. He's not. They don't give 3.5 at plus money to strikeout artists. The thing the haters are forgetting is the fact that four strikeouts aren't a lot, even for a guy who only has 43 in 72.1 innings of work this season. If we're being honest, I think it's masterful that Senzatela has been able to keep his strikeout number down like that. It gives us bettors an opportunity at a 3.5 for plus money move.

The haters won't tell you that Senzatela has hit this number five times over his last seven starts. In one of the starts, he sat three guys down, so it's not like he wasn't close. That start was against the team he's going against tonight, the San Diego Padres. You just know he's been thinking about how to get one more of those guys to sit down ever since that night. This guy feels like the kind of guy that would do that. Just guessing since I don't know him personally. Going on vibes alone here.

At the end of the day, Senzatela is getting the Padres at the right time. Over the last two weeks, they've struck out in 25.5% of their at-bats. We're talking 86 times in just 336 trips to the plate. That's not great if you're a Padres guy. There's a chance that we see at least seven guys in the lineup tonight that are all above 25% in strikeout rate over the last couple of weeks. There are another three that are flirting with 20%. I'm not saying this Senzatela guy is going to set a record tonight; I'm just saying that four is definitely in play.
